The Socrates Grundtvig 1 project "A better quality of life for parents of children with disabilities" is based on the concept of Permanent education of the parents of children with physical deficiency and/or associated with an easy mental deficiency through counseling, information and specific courses, aims to increase knowledge and abilities among professionals and increase cooperation among organizations and professionals throughout Europe.

There are 2 major objectives to be fulfilled:
     1. Develop and disseminate of a comprehensive and in a simple language pack of available information, eligibility conditions and relevant sources of support and contact details, at national and European level and
     2. Increase active participation of the parents to educational programs and selection of actions to be implemented in support of the disabled people.

The main outputs / products to be developed by the project are:

• 6 brochures (one for each country involved) on appropriate training and information services for parents and specialists working with children with disabilities;
• one training package for front desk operators on how to efficiently deliver information for parents and carers of the children with disabilities;
• one training pack for parents
• organize one final conference on how to influence public policies on improving the training schemes for parents and carers.

The main activities of the project will be preparation and dissemination of a pack of available information, eligibility conditions and relevant sources of support and contact details; a training package for front desk operators on how to efficiently deliver information for parents; develop a training pack for the parents and promote the creation of support groups inside community; set-up a communication system, web page and other internet tools.

Targets groups: parents and carers of the children with disabilities; specialists working with children and their families and information personnel from different local institutions, dealing with people with disabilities and their families.
